We don’t stand on ceremony around here so let’s dive right into this week’s fashion faux-pas because the sooner we get this over with, the better!
Again With The Blue Eyeshadow
Once again this is a no-no: brown eyes and blue eyeshadow are like oysters and nail polish: they don’t go together, they were never meant to go together.
As I have explained before, the correct selection of eyeshadow for the brown-eyed man depends greatly on the pigmentation of said eyes and, as such, he needs to rock a purple to make those eyes pop.
If he really wants to amp it up for night time, add some glitter and smoke. Repeat the first steps, then blend the Smoke shade from the outer corner of the eye using smudger brush and across the upper and lower lash line for a more intense gaze.
An even better option here is metallics.
This gorgeous shade with your fingers for a soft, smooth and natural day look or use a blending brush for a shimmering sunset finish to dial up the magical color for evening. It takes you from desk to date to disco – minimum effort with maximum impact.
The blush is almost correct but it’s a bit much - he needs to dial it back a bit. Might want to go for pink or rosy shades because of their fair skin tones; those with darker skin tones might want to try more bricks and reds.
Blush can make a huge difference in your overall look. Too much, and you’ll look like you’ve overdone it; too little and you will look washed out. It’s on you to find the right balance.
Well, Spank My Ass And Call Me Susan!
Michelle here actually got it together!
Turquoise is an excellent color for those eyes, as is the lipstick and the color coordination of the dress is tasteful and not unreasonable in the slightest.
My goodness! You mean to say that someone out there actually listened to my advice?!? Well done, Michelle!
I just may be out of a job soon if this keeps up.
Whoops, I Spoke Too Soon…
Once again your editor has his work cut out for him as he applies the jaws of life to extricate this hapless soul from a fashion car crash.
First off, as a ginger you really need to stay away from sparkly and shiny. Green, especially a nice bottle green, is definitely your best foot forward here, or muted navies and darks or even whites would work well but, gawd, anything but metallics!
As for the eyeshadow, the pale tones work great by themselves, giving you the option to build for a darker look when needed.
Stick with that and you’ll be grand, girlboss.
I’m Thinking “No”
Boo-scary you, Casper! Halloween ain’t everyday, chief.
Assuming you have an average complexion, burying it in white makes you look bleached out. Your foundation should set off and compliment your complexion and not bury it.
First off, your eyes are blue and everybody knows the best way to make blue eyes pop with natural makeup is to use warm undertone eyeshadows and brown eyeliner on your upper tightline. Add a soft line on your upper eyelid just along the eyelashes then finish by curling your lashes and apply a brown or black mascara.
Now I suggest that the easiest way to get blue eyes to “pop” is to use complementary color shades near the eye. The direct complementary color for blue is orange, but that doesn’t mean that you have to use a bright orange color to get the enhanced color effect.
Color theory is what creates this illusion. Anything with a warm undertone will make the blue color stand out because all the tones around the direct color orange are complimentary on a color wheel.
Use a sheer amount of eyeshadow on the eyelid such as pink, rose, or deeper golds. Apply any of these tones in a luster or shimmer eyeshadow finish and apply a thin amount using your ring finger in the inner tear duct eye area.
As for the lipstick…
Blue eyes look great in pink tones. From the softest wash of pale pink to more vibrant raspberry tones, rosy lips are complementary to blue eyes. Look for a variety of colors and formulas: glossy shine and matte creams in a deep pure rose, strawberry or bubblegum pink. Sheer pinks are pretty and appropriate for casual days or the office.
Lilac shades are nice for you, too. Try a mauve or soft plum color, and see how it flatters and enhances your eye color. Corals with a strong pink base will work for you.
