Oh lordy does your editor have his work cut out for him today.
Who Wears Short Shorts? Not You, Chief.
And the purple is out. Only the select few can pull off the purple much in the same vein as the select few can pull off pink.
We’re just not feeling it.
Yes, I know picking out clothes is hard. Really hard. That, however, doesn’t absolve you of responsibility, especially showing off your bulge.
Why, oh why, with the bulge?
Okay…let’s start with some basic colors for the on-the-go brunette.
Brunettes can wear almost all clothing colors (except purple); however, there are some shades that make them look more stunning and fabulous. Always remember that the key is to wear clothing colors that will accentuate and highlight your brown hair.
Such as red.
Red is a bold color, and it symbolizes love and passion. As such, wearing this color will reveal your passionate side. Additionally, most brunettes have a slight burgundy tint that is noticeable under the light. Because of this, any shade of red can enhance the color of your strands, making you look gorgeous and enchanting.
You can also…I can’t believe I’m saying this…pull off…a pink.
Yes, a pink!
Pink is one of the best clothing colors that look best on brunettes. It is a feminine shade, and almost all women have a pink-colored outfit in their closet. Fortunately, brunettes will look fabulous in pink, especially if you wear shades like hot pink and baby pink.
Blue is also a nice go-to. As you know, blue is a calming and soothing color, and it is one of the highly recommended colors women can wear at work. For brunettes, this color will make you look attractive, especially darker shades like cobalt blue.
Another shade that looks great on brunettes is turquoise blue. It is an energizing color that will flatter your hair color. The best part is that you don’t need to use any embellishment to look charming in a turquoise-colored dress because it can enhance your look instantly.
Result? Bam!
And lose the shorts!
Dress Your Age!
How many times do I have to say this? You’re not a young lady anymore and with that in mind you need to dress accordingly and that means one of the popular concerns for you may be “Do I look like I am trying to be young in this outfit?” when you want to buy something fashionable. And the answer is often “No”. Women of any age like to look pretty and feminine, so there is no need to limit your favorite style just due to your age. Most of the women over 20 should be able to skip their tiny miniskirts and cropped tops; however, you do not have to dress shapeless shirts or unflattering skirt lengths just as you think that you are too old to dress certain styles.
May I suggest a sweater?
Sweaters look great in both winter and fall and this styling idea is not just decent but also looks refreshing. If you are going to wear a pullover sweater, make sure the length of the shirt you are wearing under it is the same as, or shorter than the shirt.
As for that hair, bangs are ALWAYS a NO-NO. You, my dear, need to rock a uniform length with that long face of yours (as I always say) but, in your case, I think we can go with Asymmetrical Bob.
If you must go with the dress I recommend an A-line as it’s both stylish and non-descript, plus you can get away with straps.
Again…
I don’t even know where to start so, I guess, makeup - specifically lipstick and here you have a two choices.
The first thing about lipstick is that it has to pair well with your skin tone and hair color but, unfortunately, one may work well but not the other.
I suggest the following:
Nude
A great thing with women with brown hair is that they can pull off lipstick shades ranging from light brown to nude. The reason is that these lipstick shades will not only complement their hair color but complexion as well. Thus, wearing nude lipstick will enhance your beauty and give you a polished look.
Plum
Not everyone will wear plum or violet-toned lipstick because it is an unusual shade. However, brunettes can pull off this color, especially those with green eyes. In fact, plum lipstick can give life to the eyes of green-eyed brunettes. So, if you want to be adventurous with your make or try something new, plum lipstick is a great choice.
These are my top picks but we need to delve a bit further. To wit:
If you’re a brunette with golden highlights, then peach and apricot tones will be very flattering — particularly if you have a bit of a suntan.
If you’re pale , use a stronger color, such as cinnamon.
If your hair falls in the chestnut range, look for lip colors that mimic the red undertones of your hair color. Berry, wine, coral and golden pink are all options for you.
If your locks are the color of chocolate, forget the pale pinks. Go with bolder colors such as ruby, cherry or fuchsia.
Remember to go easy on the eye makeup when you’re wearing strong lip color.
Mix up the finish to add variety to your makeup palette. Matte, gloss and stain give different looks, so spend an hour at the cosmetic counter and have some fun playing with all the options available.
