Just Having Gone Over The Books
I'm Pleased The Response To The New Direction I've Taken Has Been Met Enthusiastically, However...
The above photo represents the amount of money I make from downloads of my music from this site.
Let me back up a moment: first, I’m over the moon at the moment at the response I’ve gotten having decided to put up musical numbers of All Things Trans instead of writing articles - I am deeply humbled and ecstatic that you all have have responded positively to them.
Having gone over the books, you all have - collectively - downloaded the last three musical numbers to the tune of 740 times at the last previous count.
Good news: thank you!
The bad news: had I been able to charge $0.99 per download, I would have netted $740 over the last three days.
Now, I’m not mad at any of you for downloading my music, that’s kind of the whole-ass point of this SubStack and why I don’t harp on you all too hard for a paid subscription.
My articles are a public service which I’m all too happy to have anyone read and, if you feel up to it, you can opt to support my work financially.
My music is a different story and, recognizing that, I have to insist on getting something for it as I put in a lot of work to make it happen on a daily basis.
On the way home from work this morning I had toyed with the idea of putting up a paywall for my music, that only paying subscribers can have access to it, but then realized that while I have over a thousand subscribers, most of them are free.
And, really, I’d like to keep it that way - I don’t want to paywall anything as I consider bringing this information to you my honor.
So, going forward, I ask you all humbly that, if you’re going to download my music, please consider Buying Me A Coffee.
And you don’t have to give a lot, even the minimum of USD $1 for a coffee would help immensely.
To date I am the only person on SubStack making music for all of you, and I think that’s pretty special that I provide a service nobody else on the Stack is offering.
Again, thank you for the overwhelmingly positive response to my idea and I look forward to providing more of the same for the foreseeable future.
PS The vocalist is an AI, yes - I don’t sing very well, but that’s where the AI ends as I play all the instruments on every track, mixing and master each.
So, no, I’m not feeding Suno a prompt and hoping I get a halfway decent song out of it: this is work.
