He has the distinction of being the first inmate in federal custody to be granted, at taxpayer expense, gender reassignment surgery though his attorneys at the ACLU accuse the Bureau Of Prisons of dragging their feet and causing undue delay in getting his surgery done.
He’s also serving a 20 year sentence for terroristic threats against individuals at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
In July of 2002, Cristina Nichole Iglesias, also known as Cristian Noel Iglesias and Kenneth R. West mailed a letter addressed to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, the British counterpart of the United States Department of State.
The letter contained death threats and a powdery substance claimed to be anthrax. The receipt of the letter in London caused significant disruption at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, which was subsequently (and predictably) evacuated.
After extensive forensics tests he was linked to the crime and was charged with one count of threatened use of a weapon of mass destruction, to which he pled guilty.
Iglesias is no stranger to getting himself into trouble as his terroristic threats go all the way back to 1994 for which he was imprisoned and committed the offense for which he is currently incarcerated for the next 20 years while he was incarcerated.
Yes, that’s right - he mailed his “anthrax” to the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office while in custody.
That surprise should not ensue with readers of this fine newsletter, it was at some point during his extended stay in one of our fine federal penitentiaries that Iglesias contracted gender dysphoria and demanded that he be moved to Carswell Federal Medical Center, a women’s facility in Fort Worth, Texas and what also should not come as any surprise to my readers is that in December of 2021 a federal judge who heard the arguments from his ACLU attorneys granted this extraordinary request, thus making it the first time ever a prisoner in federal custody was granted gender reassignment surgery.
Carswell Federal Medical Center and BOP now lists him as female and the prison has taken the extraordinary step to grant him access to makeup, panties, bras, and other "gender dysphoria" alleviating accessories after being diagnosed.
On a somewhat unusual note, the diagnosis was complete after a total of two hours and thirty minutes of "assessments" by a doctor from The World Professional Association for Transgender Health conducted over four months.
Iglesias is clearly a recidivist and is clearly a menace to society as his predilection for making terroristic threats goes back twenty eight years so you, the reader, are forgiven for having the following thought run through your head:
WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK DID HE DO NOW?
Seriously, what is it that he could possibly have done now that would top his past crimes?
On December 27, 2021 court filings show that Iglesias had admitted to submitting multiple false Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) against two female inmates in the institution in an attempt to get out in front of the sexual assault claims they were allegedly in the process of filing against him.
Of all the things that never happened, him being raped by two female prisoners never happened the most.
The details of the women's claims are not currently known, though they were dismissed as "false" in a testimony Iglesias gave at the time. Court documents also note Iglesias had then made a demand to be returned to a male facility.
Iglesias ultimately retracted his request for a transfer, but the Bureau of Prisons has stated that two other trans-identified male federal inmates have similarly voluntarily moved back to male prisons after becoming disinterested with staying in a women's facility.
One imagines why they suddenly lost interest.
It should be noted that there have been instances of trans identified males requesting to be sent back to male prisons in the past at the state level.
Iglesias is slated for a move to another women's institution in March in Florida and he, along with ACLU representatives, are currently claiming the Bureau of Prisons is unduly delaying his gender reassignment surgeries in an attempt to "run out the clock" prior to Iglesias' December 2022 release date.
One predicts that, upon release, he’ll go back to identifying as male just as this guy did after enjoying a stay in a women’s prison.
One also imagines that, given his long and extensive criminal record, he won’t stay on the outside for very long. One finally has to wonder if he won’t plead that the stress of transitioning made him do it again.
If gender dysphoria is a trigger for someone to embark on a life of crime why are we not doing everything in our power to treat it? Why do we passively accept a diagnosis of gender dysphoria or that anyone says they have gender dysphoria knowing full well this person may end up committing a serious crime?
I often ask this question a lot and never seem to get a satisfactory answer.
