Ron DeSantis Refuses To Call Men Women
As Far As He's Concerned, A Slimy Man Didn't Win At The NCAA Swim Championships
Yesterday Ron DeSantis waded into the transgender debate when he declared the second-placed University of Virginia swimmer Emma Weyant the rightful winner of Thursday's 500-yard women's freestyle event.
"It is my determination that men should not be competing against women such as Emma Weyant, robbing women and girls of achievements, awards, and scholarships," DeSantis wrote, referring to Thomas as a "male identifying as a woman."
He then accused the NCAA of making "efforts to destroy women's athletics" and expressed his disapproval of the "NCAA elevating ideology over biology."
"By allowing men to compete in women's sports, the NCAA is destroying opportunities for women, making a mockery of its championships, and perpetuating a fraud," DeSantis said in his tweet alongside the statement.
"In Florida, we reject these lies and recognize Sarasota's Emma Weyant as the best women's swimmer in the 500y freestyle," DeSantis added.
And well he should because William Thomas is nothing more than a slimy man who cheats at sports.
This is hardly surprising. In at least 30 states nationwide, lawmakers have introduced bills aiming to keep transgender girls and women from participating on girls' and women's sports teams. These type of restrictions have become a major culture war battle, with Republican lawmakers being the loudest proponents of such bills, while Democrats often oppose them.
In fact, the Democrats are predicted to lose Congress in the midterm elections and Biden predicted to lose at least Florida in 2024 when paired against a hypothetical race against DeSantis in a recent Suffolk University/USA TODAY Network poll finding that voters in Sunshine State favor DeSantis over President Joe Biden (D), 52% to 44%.
For the first time Missouri GOP candidate Vicki Hartzler is openly running on this very issue and might even win on it now that she seems to be pulling ahead after an endorsement for Senator Josh Hawley.
She begins the ad by referencing Lia Thomas, the University of Pennsylvania biological man who has precipitated an uproar by competing on the women’s swimming team. Hartzler stated, “Meet William Thomas — ranked number 462 in men’s swimming. Meet Lia Thomas — ranked number one in women’s swimming. Only one problem, it’s the same person.”
Hartzler, formerly a women’s track runner and coach, is touching on an issue that has proven popular not just with Republicans, but also Democrats. A Gallup poll last year found that 62 percent of Americans supported requiring athletes to play on a team that corresponds with their sex at birth — similar to battleground polling conducted by the National Republican Senatorial Committee in September, which put that figure at 64 percent across the board. Among Republicans, 83 percent back a ban on transgender athletes, according to the polling.
In early February, 16 members of the Penn women’s swimming and diving team sent a letter to the University of Pennsylvania and the Ivy League asking them to refrain from suing the NCAA over its new athlete inclusion policies that would bar Lia Thomas, formerly known as Will Thomas, from participating in the NCAA championships in March. They stated, “We have been told that if we spoke out against her inclusion into women’s competitions, that we would be removed from the team or that we would never get a job offer.”
In the letter, the swimmers note, “Biologically, Lia holds an unfair advantage over competition in the women’s category, as evidenced by her rankings that have bounced from #462 as a male to #1 as a female. If she (Thomas) were to be eligible to compete against us, she could now break Penn, Ivy and NCAA women’s swimming records; feats she could never have done as a male athlete.”
Unfortunately, that’s already happened. Women who once held swimming records at UPenn no longer hold them as they’ve been smashed by a slimy man cheating at sports because that is the ruling of cowards at the NCAA, who have, in their benighted wisdom, decided that all women’s teams, in all sports, must allow men to compete in women’s sports.
Again, I predict the Democrats are going to get destroyed in the midterms and again in 2024 if this be the hill they elect to die on, as evidenced in Virginia as it went Republican across the board in the wake of a horrific rape scandal of a high school girl in Loudoun county and the school board that cared more for the feelings of a boy with ladyfeels that they did the girl who was raped by him.
The voters of Virginia voted as if their daughter’s lives depended on it - because they did and it doesn’t take a political prognosticator to see which way Pennsylvania is going to come down on this issue.
