The Dumpster Fire That Is Doctor Who
It Was The Chibnall Era, Only Worse And Doubled Down On Wokeness
I was really hoping that Russell T Davies' return would serve as a course correction for the show after years of lackluster seasons, so it was disappointing to see a show I once loved double down on the worst elements of the Chibnall era.
I have never seen so much ludicrous bullshit thrown into one episode of anything and it wasn't just that it was thrown in but “written” in as the main part of the story line.
The problem is shows like this thinking they need to take their own unique stories and shove as much ridiculous pandering into them to the point they are no longer the stories that we have grown to love as they try to convey a "lesson for humanity" message instead of actually writing anything that is entertaining.
It was less an episode of Doctor Who and more of a TikTok video that was about 58 minutes too long.
In fact, if I wanted to get a lesson in humanity on how someone believes I should or shouldn't think, I could have gone to TikTok or YouTube and let an influencer tell me all about it.
At least there I know when I'm clicking on a video exactly what to expect.
The non-binary id and pronouns (yeah, they went there) also felt forced - like they have to make it special. It's not. It's overdone. We get it already.
And just to really drive the point home, even the villain was transphobic.
But what were we realistically expecting? It’s Russell T. Davies, a man who literally the other week gave Davros back his legs because he didn’t want to portray disabled people as villains.
In short, this episode of Doctor Who featured a discussion about "chosen pronouns". TV drama has become a relentless moral lecture delivered by woke producers and executives.
Daft bastards.
Go woke, go broke.
Who is that shit supposed to appeal to?
