The individual sought in connection with a shooting incident in Southwest Philadelphia on Monday night has been identified as Kimbrady Watson Carriker, a 40-year-old individual.
According to reports from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Carriker was taken into custody on Monday evening after allegedly perpetrating a shooting that resulted in the deaths of five individuals and the injury of two children in the Kingsessing neighborhood. The police apprehended a male suspect who was wearing a ballistic vest.
Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw stated that law enforcement promptly responded to reports of gunfire in the vicinity of South 56th Street and Chester Avenue, occurring shortly before 8:30 pm. Roughly 10 minutes later, the police pursued and cornered the suspect in an alleyway on the 1600 block of South Frazier Street.
Carriker's Facebook activity revealed posts expressing support for the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as his following of the Black Lives Matter Philly Facebook page.
According to photos posted to his Facebook page, it appears Carriker is transgender.
Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw reported that Carriker had been detained. Carriker was allegedly carrying an “AR-type rifle,” multiple magazines, a handgun, a police scanner, and a ballistic vest.
The tragic shooting claimed the lives of five people aged from 16 to 59. A man arrived home four hours later to discover his 31-year-old son dead from several gunshot wounds in the living room. One of the victims was him. The five men killed have been identified as Lashyd Merritt (20), Dymir Stanton (29), Ralph Moralis (59), Daujan Brown (15), and Joseph Wamah, Jr. (31).
This is becoming depressingly familiar.
Female mass shooters are extremely rare, but three out of four identified shooters were transgender men. In 2018, Snochia Mosely from Baltimore, Maryland, killed three co-workers before taking her own life. In 2019, Alec McKinney from Denver, Colorado, pleaded guilty for her involvement in a shooting at a STEM school. However, it is important to note that this does not represent a significant trend among mass shooters - almost all of which were committed by males.
What is noteworthy is the absence of mass shootings targeting transgender or LGBTQ+ gatherings, despite claims by gender ideology supporters that such attacks are imminent. The closest incident was the Colorado Springs Q Club shooting in January, but the shooter, Anderson Lee Aldrich, identified as nonbinary, contradicting the desired narrative. Critics argue that Aldrich's claim is an attempt to evade justice, but no concrete evidence or criteria for nonbinary identity are provided.
And while Carricker has been identified initially as a man, it’s not going to be long before the media starts using bespoke pronouns and quietly moves on from this story.
