Wholeheartedly agree!! I am not my ancestors. I am ME! None of us should have to take the blame for what our ancestors did, or have to constantly self-flagellate and apologize for it, and be terrified of being seen as “racist” if we criticize, for instance, Islam, (which is a RELIGION / totalitarian political system, not a race!!), the effed up misogyny and other harmful parts of cultures where most people just so happen to be brown, or open immigration policies that harm our societies!! Not because the people from there are mostly brown, (it would have been just the same if they were white, too!), but because: 1. their culture is not compatible with ours, and doesn’t fit with Western society. 2. we simply can’t accommodate that many people.
As for all the black and brown people here in the West who share our values, and have integrated to the point that they are good members of our societies, even if they also keep their own native cultures alive, simultaneously..? I think that’s awesome, and I see you EXACTLY the same way as I see any fellow white Westerner! Because it was never actually about skin color! But rather, about us sharing enough cultural values to be able to create a functional society together! And: as a Westerner, some of the core things I MOST appreciate about the West, that I believe it is EXTREMELY important for us to keep alive..? Are women’s rights, equality under the law, democracy, LGB rights, freedom of speech, freedom of, and also FROM, religion, etc!! Which, for anyone who shares and respects those values, I don’t give a damn what your skin color is! You could even be green, or blue, or purple, for all I care! But if you want to come here, from a non Western country, and you plan on not respecting those values, and our society, whatsoever..? Then you don’t belong here, and I don’t want you here!! And.. you can try to gaslight me by calling me a “racist”, and pretending like it is all because you’re BROWN that people like me don’t want you here, all you like. But the fact that is, that is just not the case, at ALL!! And I agree, it is about damn time that white Westerners just STOPPED allowing ourselves to be gaslit and manipulated in this way.
