Florida Says "Fuck Your Pronouns" As It Denies "Gender Affirming Care" And Then Executes A Murderer
Florida finally bothered to carry out the execution of death row inmate Duane Owen, who apparently identified as transgender, by lethal injection on Thursday evening. It took them a good four decades to do so, during which time Owen committed the heinous acts of murdering a 14-year-old babysitter and a single mother of two in separate attacks.
Owen's delightful resume of crimes includes the 1984 rape and fatal stabbing of teenager Karen Slattery, as well as the rape and killing of 38-year-old Georgianna Worden in Palm Beach County.
In a surprising twist, Owen decided not to grace the world with any profound final statement, according to CNN affiliate WPBF.
The ACLU took to Twitter to express their outrage at the state of Florida, alleging that they failed to provide medically necessary gender-affirming care to Duane Owen. According to the ACLU, this failure resulted in Owen experiencing immense suffering and violated his right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment throughout his more than 30 years in state custody.
It's interesting how criminals always seem to discover their true gender identity behind bars, isn't it?
In their tweet, the ACLU attempts to shift the focus solely onto Owen's gender-affirming care, presenting it as the primary concern for a transgender individual. They argue that Florida's alleged negligence in providing such care is a grave violation of Owen's rights.
It's always remarkable (well, not really) how criminals conveniently claim their gender identity becomes a priority once they find themselves in prison.
However, it's important to note that Owen was convicted of brutally murdering innocent individuals. The tweet from the ACLU overlooks the gravity of Owen's crimes and instead chooses to emphasize the perceived injustice of not receiving gender-affirming care.
By raising this issue, the ACLU attempts to highlight the alleged mistreatment and discrimination faced by transgender individuals within the criminal justice system. They suggest that Owen's suffering while in custody should be considered in the broader context of transgender rights and equality.
When criminals assert that their gender identity should take precedence, it can be seen as an attempt to divert attention away from the gravity of their crimes. By emphasizing their gender identity, they may seek sympathy or understanding, attempting to overshadow the suffering and trauma inflicted upon innocent individuals. This raises concerns about the balance between recognizing and addressing the rights of transgender individuals and ensuring justice and accountability for their actions.
Got any “nonbinary” twits on death row? Do them next. They can yell their pronouns before they inhale the gas.
Yeah, affirmation. The state could have at least given him the transition joy of castration. Hold the anesthesia.
