Timothy McBride is fortunate that he doesn't look as grotesque as most men who are so alienated from their biological sex that they try to pass as women. Might it be that he's younger (34) than the average Mrs. Doubtfire?
As for not having his junk amputated, I can't say I blame him. But then I'm not the one who presumably found being male so intolerable that he became a she. In a better sort of world, a reporter would ask for clarification on this point at a press conference. After all, Tim is not making a secret of the fact he's trans. He probably sees himself as a role model for other gender-confused men. That would include the dick question: On or off? The pros and cons.
McBride's ability to pass as a female benefits him, but it presents a real challenge to the gender critical agenda. What's the policy on trans adults? Going all Fred Phelps/Hillsboro Baptist Church would not only be morally reprehensible, it would be catastrophically self-defeating. What about a secular version of "Love the sinner; hate the sin"? How does "Respect the trans person; be skeptical of the trans" sound?
The sex realist movement is rooted in the idea that gender identity ideology isn't based on humankind's experience with a certain kind of person who changes sex. Instead , it is a set of instructions for a novel and harmful way of being that makes susceptible people mistakenly think they need to change sex. In that case, where, when and how did Timothy McBride get his wires crossed? Might he be one of those unicorns called "real trans"? He and his hordes of allies certainly see it that way.
Among learned people who are not gender affirming, the emerging consensus is that most men who identify as women do so because they find it erotic to think of themselves as a woman who is being taken sexually by a man. Is that Tim's thing? Imagine if, instead of invoking the mystery of gender and an innate sense of being born in the wrong body, the Tim McBrides of this world just would level with us and admit that they get their kicks out of going around looking and acting like women. Think of the pressure that would remove from the effeminate young males who now run a very real risk of getting turned into girls.
What if that isn't McBride's story at all? What if he's one of Ray Blanchard's homosexual transsexuals who desires men but tragically decides the only way to do that is to change sex? Talk about internalized homophobia! He was an ambitious young man with political aspirations. What if he decided (or was told) that coming out as gay would end his career in politics before it began? There must be still be countless homosexuals who are trapped in the closet by their ambition and fear of losing it all. But if that is the case, there is at least the theoretical prospect that the right type of mental health therapy might liberate Tim from the terrible hang-ups about being gay that drove him to become Sarah. Surely his family and friends who were so very understanding about his sex change would be just as welcoming of the gay Timothy McBride. There would be a prize for him at the end: having kept his dick, he'd finally be able to put it to its intended use!
Another winner for the GC hit parade! Love it!
I think this is lyrically and musically the best damn song I ever composed.

That's...one hell of a take, Ollie - I like it!
I suppose it could have all been repression.
