An Open Letter To Kara Dansky
The Democrats Don't Know What A Woman Is, The Republicans Don't Care
Yes, it’s true: as a man I will never know what it means to need an abortion or worry about a pregnancy but I guarantee I don’t come to the decision of throwing my lot in with Republicans lightly because when I say I am more than prepared to accept the political consequences I am painfully aware of the women in my life, indeed women in toto, my decision is going to impact so, no, this isn’t easy for me.
But then you say:
But you already are so what we’re arguing here is how short we want the leashes and how small the cages are going to be.
The Left long ago had every ample opportunity to codify Roe and failed to act. Did you really think this wasn’t a manufactured crisis or a cynical ploy to keep you and every woman in America voting them into power year after year?
The Left calculated long ago that Roe was doomed. ACLU, NARAL, and all the liberal organizations have surrendered on abortion rights. They knew that one day a pro-life Republican president was going to be afforded the opportunity to pack the court with knee-jerk reactionaries who weren’t going to let pangs of fairness cloud their ideological judgement and if they didn’t, they just engaged in political malpractice bordering on criminal negligence.
Recently there was an exchange between Senator Josh Hawley and Berkeley law professor Khiara Bridges and what was clear (at least clear to anyone outside the bubble of identity politics) was that Bridges offered a perfect display of the progressive arrogance around “gender identity” that is destroying the electability of Democrats.
When Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri asked Bridges to clarify whether she meant “women,” the professor responded with a lecture, her words oozing with the kind of snubbing that drove millions of Americans to vote for Donald Trump.
“Many women,” she said, immediately correcting herself to reduce women to a subset of their own sex class: “cis women, have the capacity for pregnancy.”
But then “many cis women do not have the capacity for pregnancy,” she added, answering a question no one had asked her.
When Sen. Hawley asked her whether abortion is a “women’s rights issue,” Bridges doubled-down on the indignant tone.
“We can recognize that this impacts women while also recognizing that it impacts other groups, those things are not mutually exclusive, Sen. Hawley,” Bridges said, still pretending that the “other groups” she had named are not also women, however much they may reject the name for themselves.
And there it is. Hawley, one of the most conservative Republicans in the Senate, could not have asked for a better sound byte. Helpfully, progressives began sharing the clip all over social media under the mistaken impression that their view is the popular one.
They’re wrong and they’ll find out. Sadly for them, they’ll find out when Republicans control Congress next year and use that power to attack abortion access, which they can because they know exactly what women are.
Prof. Bridges decided that pandering to a tiny minority is more important than forming a political majority to protect half the human race.
You want to know why the Democrats have gone all-in on genderism? Because the Republicans are attacking it. In fact, that’s the only reason. At no point in my years as a Democratic activist was it ever announced that we were planning to let men invade women’s sports or prisons and that we should just be quiet about it.
Quite the opposite: like “defund the police,” this is a very bad idea that someone on The Left came up with, that has metastasized on The Left because it seemed like a good idea to people with no bigger a mandate than owning the right-wingers - and that effectively torpedoes the Democratic Party at the polls.
And that’s exactly what needs to happen. The Democrats have to lose, lose badly and continue losing until they understand that you can’t ignore half the population of the human race - especially that half of the population that keeps the human race viable.
Right now the issue of gender ideology is gaining traction so fast that The Left will soon find itself having to reflexively defend men raping women in prisons.
Democrats are already tied to it. This is exactly why Planned Parenthood has become a pill-mill hormone dispensary with laws and regulatory enforcement so loose that children can have them on demand. The deliberate complicity of the ACLU in this horror deserves its own ACORN-level focus by a congressional committee and we can only hope that the Republicans are willing to do this, but I’m not holding my breath.
At the risk of telling you something you already know: if it’s a step too far to vote for Republicans then maybe what needs to happen is a Tea Party-style movement of our own. Democrats need to hear from the half of their base that objects to men in women’s sports and prisons and spaces. We have to grab the media’s attention to get their focus on us, and our message, so they stop amplifying silly conspiracy theories about where we came from.
